Who should pick what
- Stride if you want a free log and don't mind a cloud account; it's a solid free product, paid for by the insurance side of the business.
- Everlance or MileIQ if you want expense tracking, tax filing or team features and a $70–140 yearly bill is fine.
- Mile-Shift if you want the log and your hours in one place, priced like a coffee a month, with your driving history staying on your own phone.
Rates that follow the calendar
Mile-Shift carries the IRS, CRA (Canada), HMRC (UK) and ATO (Australia) mileage rates with their effective dates. The IRS business rate rose from 72.5¢ to 76¢ per mile on July 1, 2026; a mile you drove in July is priced at 76¢, a mile in June at 72.5¢, and the export says which was used. What "on your phone" means here
Trips, addresses and shifts are stored in a database inside the app on your device. There is no Mile-Shift server holding a copy. The app reaches the internet for three things only: validating your subscription, looking up an address when you search for a place (sent to OpenStreetMap's geocoder), and — on Android — naming a drive's start and end in the notification through the phone's own geocoder.
