Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 2026-06-09
Mile-Shift is local-first: your trips, shifts, and mileage history live in a database on your device, not on our servers. A Mile-Shift account is optional and only needed to subscribe (so we can confirm the purchase is yours). This page explains how to delete both.
1. Delete your on-device data
Your trip and shift data never leaves your phone unless you turn on optional cloud sync. To erase it:
- Open Mile-Shift and go to Settings → Data, then tap Erase all data; or
- Delete the Mile-Shift app from your device. Uninstalling removes the local database and all trips, shifts, and settings stored on that device.
2. Delete your Mile-Shift account
If you created an optional account, delete it and its server-side data in two ways:
In the app (recommended)
- Open Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
This permanently removes your account from our authentication provider (Amazon Cognito) and deletes the subscription records associated with it.

What is deleted and what is kept
| Data | On account deletion | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Account identity (email, sign-in) | Deleted | None |
| Synced trips / shifts (if cloud sync was on) | Deleted | None |
| On-device trip database | Removed when you erase data or uninstall | Stays on your device until then |
| Subscription / billing | Managed by Apple or Google | Cancel in your App Store / Google Play subscriptions |
| Anonymized, aggregated diagnostics (if any) | Not linked to you; not deleted | Cannot be tied back to an individual |
Note: deleting your Mile-Shift account does not cancel your subscription — billing is handled by Apple or Google. Cancel separately in your store subscription settings to stop future charges.
